Aug 10, 2017: To mark the 75th anniversary of the Quit India Movement on Tuesday, the BJP's youth wing will launch a 'Bharat Jodo Abhiyan' (Unite India Campaign).
The campaign is launched by BJYM chief and MP Poonam Mahajan as a part of she handed over the tricolor to its state presidents and urged them to organize 'tiranga yatras' across the country.
Mahajan said, "As the 'Quit India' movement was a watershed moment in the history of the struggle for Independence, Bharat Jodo Abhiyan will be a landmark in bringing the youth together in the nation building process. We will write a new history with the help of history", mentioned PTI report.
According to a Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) statement mentioned in PTI, an event was organized at Vijay Chowk in the national capital Delhi yesterday as part of the campaign.
The campaign is endeavored at reinforcing the belief of "One India, Great India" amongst the people of the country and sending out a "strong" message to "separatist and anti-national" forces, the statement said.
Mahajan declared that the campaign is also against divisive forces within the nation, which is a threat to the unity of India.
According to PTI, Mahajan 'outdated violent ideologies" of the West are trying to attach a negative connotation to the idea of nationalism, a pet theme of the BJP.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier asked the party to carry out a public demonstration between August 9 and August 15 to mark the Quit India Movement anniversary and launch a 'Sankalp' (pledge) yatra between August 15 and August 30.
