New Delhi, June 12, 2017: The Yogi Adityanath UP government has taken a bold move and said that the state-owned land must be free of all the illegal occupants. In order to achieve this, the government will start booking land mafia under Gangster Act.

All reports of corruption which may be filed now will be acted upon by the teams jointly led by the District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner of Police.

This action of the government is in addition to the setting up of anti-land mafia task force in April.

The state government aims to identify all encroached lands within the next two months and prepare a list of land grabbers in the state.

Furthermore, the state's Power Minister Srikant Sharma has warned that land grabbing in the name of religion will not be permitted.

Yogi Adityanath has reiterated to the officials to ensure transparent and sensitive administration by strengthening the rule of law. He expects a much stricter police patrolling.

The state government will also give more attention to illegal mining and cattle smuggling.
