Deities of Hindu Temple in Gharo thrown away in Sewage

Gharo, May 12, 2017: Police in Gharo on Friday filed a First Information Report (FIR) against three persons for dishonouring the idols inside a Hindu temple in Thatta.

It is known that some anonymous culprits entered the temple of Rama Pir and dropped their pious idols in the sewage lines after dishonouring them according to the community leaders.

Gharo Town Committee Councillor Lal Maheshwari in a conversation with Dawn said the forbidden act was carried out on the eve of an annual festival at their place of worship and prompted the concerned authorities to take intimation of the incident.

The police filed the FIR under sections of 295 A of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and Sections 6 and 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) on account of the state.
