December 20, 2016: In Ankara, when a gunman suddenly attacked Russia's ambassador to Turkey at a photo exhibit in Monday, AP photographer Burhan Ozbilici didn't put down his camera. Instead, he captured the chaotic scene while others screamed, hid behind columns, under the tables and lay on the floor. While the attacker waved his gun and shouted slogans, he clicked the pictures which went viral.

Ozbilici in his article on APNews recalled the incident and wrote that he was thinking, "I'm here. Even if I get hit and injured, or killed, I'm a journalist. I have to do my work. I could run away without making any photos. … But I wouldn't have a proper answer if people later ask me: 'Why didn't you take pictures?' "
