November 28, 2016: To counter cash crunch, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been working to make India a cashless society. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Kerala took another step for the PM's mission.
On Monday, the BJP announced that they are going to launch a 'digital banking literacy mission' to train people in using online banking and also to create awareness among people regarding the same. According to Party state president Kummanam Rajasekharan, the program will be launched in Kochi on December 3.
"Our aim is to create awareness among people about the digital banking and give them training to use digital technology for transactions," he said.

To implement the mission, a state level committee would be formed which would have banking experts.
Awareness would be generated so that people can understand the importance of digital banking in curbing the black money in the country. Training would be provided to people about the different modes of digital transactions.

According to PTI, trained party volunteers will be arranged at the panchayat level. The NGOs, local clubs and residents' association will be added for the effective implementation of the program. The party is planning to make some select Panchayat as cash-less areas.
On November 8, in his first radio program, 'Mann ki Baat', Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked the youth and the other sections of the country to move towards a cashless society.

He also advised the youth to go to the ten families and small businessmen near them and teach them how to carry out digital transactions, which are safe and secure, on their cell phones.
