Conference on Balochistan Narrative “Internal Colonization of Balochistan by Pakistan” held in Delhi

October 4, 2016: Amid the ongoing conflict between Balochistan and Pakistan, a conference "Internal Colonization of Balochistan by Pakistan" was called at the Constitutional club, New Delhi on Sunday, October 2.

In the conference, Balochistan narrative was discussed regarding its freedom from the clutches of Pakistan and the struggle and genocide related to it. A booklet titled "Balochistan- What World Needs to Know" written by Prof Geeta Bhatt was launched as well, which raises awareness on various issues like Baloch history, culture, geography and its economy.

Famous personalities like Mr Vivek Katju (Ex Indian Foreign Service officer), Mr Mazdak Dilshad Baloch (Baloch freedom activist), Professor Rakesh Sinha (Indian Political scientist and professor at Delhi University), Dr Tarek Fatah (Secularist and Liberal Activist from Canada) and Dr GD Bakshi (Retired Indian Army officer) were eminent part of the conference.

Indian Policy Foundation has prepared a document on Balochistan under editorial ship of Professor Geeta Bhatt (Honorary Fellow, IPF & Associate Professor, and University of Delhi). She was given editorial assistance by Vinay Joshi (Human Rights Activist and Columnist), Prerna Kumari (Advocate Supreme Court) and Dr Anil Kumar (University of Delhi).

The book's first page represents sentiments of Balochistan's poet through his poetry,

Muje jang-a-aazadi ka maza maalum hay

Balochio per julm ki intehaa maalum hay

Muje pakistan me zindagi bhar rahene ki duaa na do

Muje pakistan me saat saal rahene ki sajaa maalum hay

"People of Balochistan are taken away and then to send a signal of fear their bodies are mutilated and dumped. Neither I nor any foreigner says this. This is as per the testimony and evidence of the Pakistanis themselves" said Ex Indian Foreign Service officer Mr Vivek Katju.

Mazdak Dilshad Baloch (freedom activist) a predominant figure of the conference expressed his gratitude to people for gathering in appreciable number to just to listen to him.

Recalling history he said, "British instigated to convert Balochistan into the princely state in 1935 but "Khan of Balochistan" protested against this since 1935 to 1938, but now it's issue of Pakistan. Britain knew to abide rules and it had little shame, but Pakistan is worst of all."

By considering Mohammad Jinnah an offender, Baloch activist said, "It is hurtful for us Balochis that Jinnah is highly respected in Pakistan because he is a backstabber due to whom Balochistan is in such a pitiable condition."

He also said, "Pakistan performed the military operation on us and killed thousands of people."

To aware people with the history of Balochistan he told that, "Pakistan arrested our Khan Shahab and her queen and took her to Rawalpindi. They were made to sign session paper at gunpoint which is completely unacceptable."

Dilshad Baloch said, Jinnah was impressed by the gold of Balochistan, at that time of partition in 1947 newly formed Pakistan neither had money nor resources and if we talk about gold "Pakistan was not in a position to see gold for the next hundred years."

"The Pakistan's school children are brainwashed and made to believe that as per Punjabi textbooks Balochis are uncivilised, barbaric and consistent warriors, so what we can expect from the future generation of Pakistan," added Dilshad Baloch.

GD Bakshi, a retired army officer, also confirmed his presence with an exhilarating speech. He targeted Pakistan by quoting, "No army can withstand the strength of an idea whose time has come."

He admired Pt. Lal Bahadur Shastri, Late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that, "they are the only leaders who made India proud by their straightforward decisions."

"Pakistan who blames India on Kashmir issue every time has hidden its atrocities done on Balochis for a long time," said an Ex-Army General.

Reminding of History he said, "Pakistan killed 30 lakh Bangladeshis, raped their 10 lakhs women and burdened us with 6 crore refugees."

Dr. Tarek Fatah said, "Sindh is mentioned in India's National Anthem, then how come Hind without Sindh is formed?"

"You have allowed every Muslim of Delhi to wear Yashmak. What did not occur in 1947, you made it happen in 2016. If other countries can abolish Yashmak system then why India can't," he said.

"What is India Afraid of?" said, Dr Tarek Fateh. "Will you come to your senses when the bomber attack in Yashmak? Balochistan Insha'Allah was and will remain free forever," he added.

All the members ended the conference by criticizing the Uri attack and suggested a strict behavior against the Pakistan. They also admired India's approach to teaching Pakistan a lesson in form of surgical strike.

The members present there added that "India will always support the freedom struggle of Balochistan whether other countries of the world support or not."

Before concluding, Balochistan Freedom Activist Dilshad Baloch said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised the question of human rights violation in his Independence Day speech from the Red Fort and it has given immense satisfaction to the people of Balochistan who have been a victim of state repression of the successive Pakistani regime. Their struggle for freedom from the internal colonialization of Pakistan got a fillip and their voice got legitimacy."

"From the core of our heart we are thankful to PM Modi and India to raise this issue at Global level," he said.
