As the American Presidential elections are round the corner and debates of who would win the race to the White house is fought, there are some who tends to nod without understanding the complex political system of America. So, to make it a little simple, here are few facts of American Presidential election.
Basics
American Presidential elections take place after every four years and the first Tuesday of November is the Election Day and anyone who is above 18 years and have got them registered can vote. Election Day is not a holiday. Voters find their own time to cast their on that day. Most important of all no one can be elected more than twice as the President of America.
Political Parties in America
America has only two main political parties. Republic Party- We believe in America and the Democratic Party – Moving America forward. Unlike other democratic countries, America's presidential nominations are only from these two. Other independent parties include the Liberation Party, the Green Party etc.

Voting System of America
American voters do not vote for the presidential candidates directly. Voters, in their respective states select the representatives of each party as delegates. These delegates present the nominees for presidential election. The nominee would be one of the best candidates of their party.
There are two types of election systems in America that are used before general elections. They are Primaries and Caucasus that are used to choose the delegates. The Primary system of voting is chosen by some states where the voters cast their votes in secret ballots and are run by the government. Whereas, some states choose the Caucasus method of voting, it is run by individual parties. For every candidate, a supporting group is formed and the one with the maximum number of supporters becomes the nominee for the presidential election.
