People of Baloch origin have lived for Centuries in India, says Activist Mazdak Dilshad Baloch

• Human rights violations in the Balochistan province of Pakistan have drawn global concern
• Mazdak and his wife are in India to create awareness about the Baloch Freedom Movement

Sept 11, 2016: For the centuries people of Baloch origin are living in the places like Delhi, western UP namely Meerut, Baghpat and Muzaffarnagar in India. They are said to be residing here since Babur invaded India in 1526. They came here with Babur as his army and since then they got settled here.

Baloch covers 45 percent of the area of Pakistan but their culture is completely different from rest of Pakistan. Therefore Balochistan could never become a part of Pakistan and was taken by force by Pakistan's army. Most of the inhabitants of the province are- Pashtuns and Brahuis. Even the name ''Balochistan'' itself means ''the land of Baloch'', so Baloch people think of themselves different from Pakistan.

Activist Mazdak Dilshad Baloch- a prominent voice has come up with his struggle to liberate the province from Pakistan and therefore he also wants to spread a message in India among the people who have their roots in Balochistan. Meerut, Baghpat, and Muzaffarnagar, Mazdak- he has travelled to all these places in India and has interacted with people of Baloch origin regarding atrocities with their community by Pakistani forces, mentioned TOI report.

The story of Mazdak is similar to thousands of Baloch people who have sought asylum in different parts of the world after being hounded by the Pakistan army. Mazdak's father was abducted, and his mother was harassed by the Pakistani forces. Not just that, their property was damaged too. The family had to seek asylum in Canada where they reside now. So to accomplish their dream of freedom from Pakistan army, Mazdak and his wife are in India to create awareness about the Baloch Freedom Movement.

'I am thankful to them for showing overwhelming sensitivity to our common cause. I am sure, in times to come, we will visit many more villages in the whole region and give the movement a proper name and shape,' said Mazdak to TOI.

People of India have shown a great enthusiasm to support the Baloch Cause and they are with Mazdak in this Baloch freedom movement.
