New Delhi: Raising a fresh controversy, BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha on Tuesday said that India was in need of leader like Advani who was still fit to be Prime Minister.

"The state India is currently in, with problems on the border and problems outside, we can use someone with the intellect of Advani. He can guide India with his experience and knowledge," Sinha said.

He further added that Advani was a silver lining in the political clout and he should be put to better use by the BJP.

Speaking about the suspension of Kirti Azad from the party, Sinha said: "Kirti Azad has been fighting corruption against DDCA for 9 years. I find the decision to suspend him is unfortunate. Many inside the party feel that his suspension should be revoked. He has spoken out on corruption not on party, it's not anti-party."

Kirti Azad, BJP MP from Darbhanga was recently suspended from the party after he raised the issue of corruption in the Delhi and District Cricket Association during the time when Arun Jaitely was its head.

Sinha also spoke about dissent in the party and said that the 'Marg Darshak Mandal' of the BJP was disturbed by the developments happening in the party. L K Advani is also a member of the Marg Darshak Mandal.

Sinha added that if the party wants it could expel him, but he would not go silently as he was not involved in any anti-party activities.

Sinha's autobiography 'Anything but Khamosh' (Anything but Silent) is scheduled to be released on Wednesday by Advani. (Photo: tribune.com.pk)
