New Delhi: Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia's press conference on Wednesday clearly showed that the Aam Admi Party was on a back foot following the CBI raid on the principal secretariat of Arvind Kejriwal, Rajendra Kumar's office.
Here are reasons that show that the AAP was clearly on the back foot:
Sisodia walks out: A visibly irked Manish Sisodia left the press conference when he was asked questions on Transparency International India.
The walkout clearly showed that the question left Sisodia speechless. He had nothing to answer to the journalists.
Reportedly, officials of corruption watchdog Transparency International said that it was in May that the body wrote to Arvind Kejriwal asking him to probe into Rajender Kumar.
The watchdog alleged that Kejriwal did not look into the issue.
Sisodia dodging the media clearly indicates that he was disturbed by the question.
Sisodia lashes out at Jaitley: Sisodia categorically stated that Jaitley's statement in the parliament regarding the CBI raid was false.
Instead of clarifying issues regarding the raid, Sisodia resorted to personal attack.
Sisodia unleashed a barrage of allegations on Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in a very personal manner.
Sisodia's problem with the files: Sisodia openly expressed his disgust with the raid.
"I want to categorically say that it was CM's office where the raid was conducted, DDCA (Delhi and District Cricket Association) files were looked into," Sisodia told the media.
"File movement register of the chief minister's office has been seized. If the raid was not about the chief minister's present term, why was the register seized?
"If this was not a raid at the CM's office, then why was CM office's file movement register of November-December seized?
It was only after the raid that Sisodia alleged that DDCA had corruption.
It was really strange that only after the raid that the AAP realized there was corruption in the DDCA. This clearly shows that AAP leadership is trying to juice the political mileage as has been its habit for the last few months.
AAP chooses to sell itself as a party with zero tolerance towards corruption but that veil is wearing thinner. It is bizarre that they are crying over spilt milk as if they cannot constitute another enquiry in to the alleged DDCA irregularities. It must also be noted that DDCA doesn't fall under Delhi government's jurisdiction.
