Indian students staying abroad can now work in Indian companies operating globally, thanks to a unique initiative launched by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, in association with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
Under this initiative, called the 'India Corporate Internship', 60 Indian overseas students from reputed international universities will get a chance to work with 23 Indian companies such as Tata International, Trent, Infosys, Godrej, Blue Star, Narayana Health, Kirloskar Brothers, Wipro, Apollo Hospitals, RP- Sanjiv Goenka Group, Thermax, Tata Consultancy Services, and Flipkart.
"The objective of the initiative is to expose Indian-origin students to opportunities in one of the fastest-growing economies of the world and the large dynamic market of India," said a ministry-issued press release.
Postgraduate students studying management, engineering, science and technology courses would be able to avail these internships of short duration in this initiative driven by the Overseas Indian Facilitation Centre (OIFC).
It was during the OIFC Indian Diaspora Business Meet held at the Regional Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Los Angeles on 14 and 15 November this year, that the programme was launched.
