Patna: Bihar's ruling JD-U on Friday blamed BJP for tasking AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi with damaging the prospects of grand alliance, namely, JD-U, RJD and Congress in the upcoming assembly elections.
"BJP has given a task to Owaisi to damage or harm the prospects of the grand alliance in the Bihar assembly polls," JD-U general secretary KC Tyagi said here.
"People of the state are happy with the development work of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar but some people are trying to harm him," he added.
Tyagi said Owaisi had nothing to do with the interests of Muslims. "Owaisi cannot be a well wisher of Muslims. He is only trying to help and benefit BJP that is why his party has decided to contest polls only in Seemanchal region," he added.
He said people want to know the motive behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi's secret meeting with Owaisi.
Last week Owaisi announced that his party, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), will contest the Bihar assembly elections.
He is likely to put up candidates in Muslim-dominated constituencies in Seemanchal region that comprises four districts, accounting for 24 seats in the 243-member assembly.
