Chaitali D Galakhe, the girl who demanded a toilet instead of jewelry as a wedding gift from her father, will be rewarded with Rs 10 lakh.
When Galakhe's marriage was fixed, she was taken aback when she realized that her in-laws lack toilet facilities.
IANS reported her as stating, "At the time of finalizing the marriage, I had no idea, but later I found that my in-laws home had no toilet. I discussed the issue with my parents and sisters in detail."
"I am not interested in a television, refrigerator or a washing machine or gold jewelry as a wedding gift. I only want a ready-made toilet which I can carry to my in-laws home," she told her parents.
Therefore, Galakhe's father decided to gift his daughter a prefabricated toilet with a water closet, a wash-basin and mirror standing around one foot above the ground as the wedding gift.
As per the report, Sulabh International, an organization that promotes environments sanitation, was impressed by her initiative and decided to present her with Rs. 10 lakh as a reward.
