Racism is real: Black sounding names are 50% less likely to be called back for interviews in US

The categorization of a man and his race is really absurd, as it has nothing to do with genetic characteristics. The model of racism was conceived by a few divergent capitalists who describe themselves as superior and the real inhabitants of the land. Race determines a social and primary method that shows how people perceive ideas from different facets.

A study, in reference to a three minute video named 'Racism is real' by Brave new films, has truly justified the disguised form of racism within American boundaries. Tracing the U.S history, the meaning of race or a label "white" has been changed with the passage of time, and now Americans perceive a different meaning of racism.

Race is something that defines a person's stature and level of efficacy in the society. It is something which you are not born with but something that is forcefully implied upon the dominated section of the society.

Holding an agenda to make a neutral society, the video tends us to rethink about the social and political norms prevailing in the society. The video extensively reveals the white monopoly that is being followed by the Americans to satisfy their racist attributes.

Yale University, the American Civil Liberties Union and the New England Journal of Medicine came up with the following eight reasons or levels of distinction, depicted in the video, that are still faced by the black community.

Does name really matter?

The study not only elongates the fact that those having black sounding names are less preferred by the white employers, but has also revealed that more than ten thousand job application forms were rejected in the year 2013 on the basis of the names they carry. Black sounding names are 50% less likely to be called back for interviews, leading the dejected black people to encroach into different crimes.

Burden them with higher prices

The other classification made by the researchers is developed on the basis of purchases made buy the black people.

Black people are illegally charged more on any purchase they do, as most of the American sellers don't want them to occupy the luxurious objects like cars, cell phones, etc., so that 'the Blacks' can't reach out to 'the White's' level.

Are terrible drivers?

Black drivers are insignificantly more popular among the American security agencies and are prime suspects for any illegal outrage. Therefore, without any reason, black drivers are twice as likely to get pulled over.

Unable to find a favorable neighborhood

There are very less varieties of houses for the blacks, as Whites don't consider them to be 'the ideal neighbors.' Hence, black homebuyers are shown 17.7% fewer available houses for sale. Comparatively, whites have more options and that too at a lower cost.

Identified as drug dealers

Blacks are considered as the bloodsucker of the society. It is claimed that they are the one promoting marijuana in America. However, the study contradicts all the irrational claims. It also pronounces that the consumption of marijuana is equal among blacks and whites, but black people are 3.7 times more likely to be arrested for it.

Are suspected as criminals

The ratio of police detention between blacks and white is 6:1. They are always being judged on the basis of their color, as black color is eventually used for a negative connotation. They are incarcerated at nearly six times the rate of white people.

Are considered as leftovers by the doctors

Doctors are looked upon as the saviors. However, living in a racially inflicted society, they abandon the black community. Doctors never inform black patients about any disorder their body has. It is found that blacks were less likely to be referred for cardiac catheterization than whites.

Are also neglected by the government authorities

The government developmental bodies are also held responsible for this domination as their response on any query asked by a black is not frequently answered. However, due to a black President leading the country, such discrimination is moving at a slower pace.

Racism is a part of human psyche that is engraved in our minds since the time of inception. Some consider it right whereas some take it as a forbidden offence.

The video and the related studies have proved that not only the US but the entire world considers race as a mark of identification.

In a nutshell, we can say that the video has not only exposed the inverted and outrageous minds of the western people, but also enabled us to rethink about this crude form of distinction. But still, tagging an entire group of people as racist is ridiculous, to say the least.
