While addressing a seminar at the Indian School of Business (ISB) in Mohali on Sunday, Power-Coal and Renewable Energy Minister mentioned that, around 280 million households in the country do not have power connection.
"The country's problem is not about the amount of power generation or the ability to generate. We have surplus power in large parts of the country. The mission is to achieve power for all by 2019 not only by slogans but by actions," said the Power minister.
Adding to that, the minister asked the ISB to come up with a plan for a laboratory on energy conservation for which his ministry will provide funds.
"In 2.5 years from now, I can bring down energy wastage by 10 percent and will be powering those 280 million homes out of this energy saved," said Piyush Goyal.
