In the crowded video streaming platforms business, coming up with what is best is an uphill battle.
You need the right advice and technical know-how to choose the best. Most of the so-called popular streaming devices have so many ups and downs. Therefore, it would pay to carefully examine what you would want to spend your money on.
We all know that Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu, and other popular streaming platforms have dominated the market, and Netflix is the daddy to all. But this has not stopped other services from joining the ring.
We have the new kid on the block- Peacock TV, launched in July 2020. Peacock is owned by NBC and so far the service has gained at least 54 million signups.
Subscribing to all the streaming services would be next to impossible. We have narrowed our research to compare two excellent services -Peacock and Hulu.
Comparison can be based on three main factors, the streaming services price, their availability on devices and apps, and the shows and movies each has to offer.
Peacock is a video streaming service that is available on many devices. One can view on-demand or can use streaming channels. It features original series, movies shows, and live sports. With its free ad premiums versions, subscribers have the chance to stream on-demand and live content.
If you love Fast and Furious or Harry Potter, you will be good to go on Peacock; unfortunately, Peacock TV has geo-blocking features that restrict viewers. It's only available within the U.S and a few territories such as Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, etc.
You can stream Peacock TV outside the USA, but you need a secure VPN server. There are many VPN s available, but one best recommended is the ExpressVPN.
Follow NewsGram on Instagram to keep yourself updated.
Peacock TV meets users' needs; it has free, premium, and premium plans.
For the free plan, ads take 5 minutes /hour, and you can watch for more than 13,000 hours. Besides, you can watch the selected Peacock original series, movies, classic shows, and NBCU seasons
The two paid plans are Premium with ads $4.99/ month- or Premium plans without ads- $9.99/month. Here, Ads take 5 minutes per hour. The service has more than 20 000 hours of content with full access to Peacock original series and any other current season shows, movies, or even late-night TV.
Hulu comes with a basic plan and a Hulu + Live TV.
The basic plan goes for $6.99. Here you get a full on-demand library with ads. For the entire on-demand library with no ads, you get it at $12.99. Hulu + Live TV goes for $64.99/month. You can access on-demand content, and the package has over 75 channels.
The last one is Hulu+Live TV$70.99/month with no ads. With this, you can access an on-demand library. The package comes with over 75 live channels.
Peacock has a free tier and is available to anyone on the internet without any charge, whereas to use Hulu, you need to pay for every content you watch.
You can access Peacock TV shows and movies for more than 7500 hours without any single cent. With the premium plan, you can access new episodes one day after they are aired. The service also has live sports for free.
Peacock draws its content from Comcast properties such as NBC, while Hulu has its content from Disney properties.
Hulu originals, movies, and shows include The Great, Marvel's Hit-Monkey. Dopesick, Nine Perfect Strangers, Drama, such as No Fue Mi Culpa, comedies such as Vacation Friends, etc
Peacock originals include The Amber Ruffin Show, Brave New World, Dr. Death, Rutherford Falls. Note that shows like The office can be watched for free.
It's worth noting that Parks and Recreation will leave Hulu, and Peacock will own it exclusively.
Both streaming devices have equally the same shows. Both of them have ads with upgrades to an ad-free version for extra monthly free.
Both services allow you to watch network content a day after it aired
Hulu seems to be on top with the addition of FX on Hulu, and while both have profound originals, Hulu seems to outdo Peacock
To access Hulu, you can use apps such as NBC Sports, Fox News, Disney Now, CBS, ESPN, FOX Business, among others
There are many supported devices to watch Hulu from, such as Android phones and tablets, iPads, Apple TV, Android TV. Chromecast. Fire Tablets, PlayStation, Xbox, Mac, and PC browsers.
You can get Peacock on selected Smart TVs, Roku, Google Play Store, or even in gaming consoles. The streaming service can be compatible with the following apps; Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, Google Chromecast, Apple mobile devices, Comcast Xfinity Flex,
Hulu is accessible on most of the available streaming devices such as Amazon Fire Tv and Roku.
Meaning, when it comes to the availability of the services on apps and devices, Hulu wins the contest.
While Peacock seems to lag based on the comparison, it has something unique to bring to the table. It's a free, ad-supported tier.
There has been no other streaming device with such, not even Netflix, which is the daddy to all streaming platforms.
With this, Peacock has its space, and the issue of free tier could mean more than one would think. This can doubtless be used as a determinant when choosing between Peacock and Hulu.
