  • Padman is a Bollywood movie directed by R.Balki
  • It stars Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor
  • Padman movie deals with the topic of women's health and hygiene during menstruation

When Padman's concept was first released in media, it was much hyped. The Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor movie based on a real-life incident was a much awaited one. Everyone was excited to see how the taboo topic of menstruation will come alive on the silver screen.

After much promotion and the #padmanchallenge, the movie is finally in theatres, but is it really worth a watch? This Padman review will answer the question.

The Padman movie undoubtedly has an applause-worthy topic. The storyline is quite inspirational and full of heavy messages regarding sanitation, menstruation and most importantly the 'Sharam,' which is one of the biggest problems for women, according to the character of Radhika Apte.

Akshay Kumar has done many unconventional movies in the past and has been successful with them. This movie does deliver its message too, however in a very subtle and non-effective way.

The movie Padman delivers an important message, which is ignored by everyone in daily life in the name of taboo – the importance of women's health and hygiene during sanitation. The narrative gets quite slow at times but like all Balki movies, this one can also hold one's interest.

The Padman movie shows the reality of men who try to do anything for women. They are doubted by their families at first and then appreciated later. Akshay Kumar the leading man of the film has all the attention on him for all the right and obvious reasons. His acting is on point like always and he fits his role perfectly. The movie is produced by his wife, Twinkle Khanna and the couple has tried to make the one really honest film.

Radhika Apte as the wife of Akshay's character has done a brilliant job. Her expressions and acting are marvellous, though her character's constant usage of the word 'Sharam' may induce some irritation in the audience.

Sonam Kapoor who joined the film much later was able to leave an impact. She was perfect for the role of South Delhi girl. She helped the protagonist realise his dream and was definitely a good addition to the film.

Padman as a whole is an amazing movie because of its strong concept and idea. Though it could be made more complex but that clearly wasn't the aim of filmmakers. It can get slow at times but it won't certainly disappoint you. It is one movie every man and woman in India needs to watch.
