Tips to Keep Your Mouth Healthy from Bacteria Causing Inflammatory Diseases

  • Bacteria living in your mouth may increase digestion problems or gut diseases.

As stated by the study published in the Science journal, minute toils of bacteria from the mouth end up to the gut and locate in the intestine which can easily lead to chronic inflammation. The researchers have suggested to research on the same for ultimate findings in humans.
It has also been regarded that a healthy person's gut usually does not have any presence of oral bacteria. But increased levels of oral bacteria have been found in the guts of infected people with certain kind of diseases.

Thereby, the study aims to find a new treatment for gut diseases and remove oral bacteria. As a part of the study, saliva samples were taken from patients acquiring Crohn's Disease and IBD, and the sampled bacteria was transplanted into mice bred which cannot produce their own gut bacteria. It was found that a strain of bacteria in the saliva called Klebsiella pneumoniae could live in the intestines of the germ-free mice and stimulate immune cells known as "T Helper Cells", which can give rise to an inflammatory response.

It is important to keep your mouth healthy by cleaning your teeth and maintaining a proper diet. Include such foods to your diet to maintain oral hygiene.

Apples act as healthy cleaning agents of mouth. They form a great source of water and fibre containing malic acids. Thereby increasing the production of saliva which tends to remove the bacteria from your mouth.

Green leafy vegetables are rich in magnesium that build the enamel and gums strong. It is extremely healthy for maintaining oral hygiene.

3. Carrot

Raw red or orange carrots are crunchy and firm, that enhance our chewing capacity and saliva in your mouth. It helps neutralize the acids and enzymes in your mouth causing harm to your enamel. This healthy nutrient-rich vegetable should be added to your daily diet plan.

4. Raisins

Raisins increment the creation of saliva and preventing plaque build-up and risk of cavities by neutralizing the acidic environment produced by other foods. Raisins tend to maintain the overall healthy state of your body.
