The female with divine appearance is the legendary Nutan Samarth Bahl from the era of the 70s, better known by her screen name – Nutan. Today is her birthday, and Google celebrated her 81st birthday with a doodle art exhibiting myriads of expressions of the actress in one frame, memorializing her grandeur contribution to Indian Cinema.

Here is what you need to know about Nutan – One of the most loved actress in the world of cinema –

  • Nutan was a daughter of director/poet Kumarsen Samarth and his actor wife Shobhana Samarth. Her younger sister Tanuja, Kajol's mother, is also an actor. Her parents separated when she was little.
  • Nutan appeared in more than 70 films stretching over four decades. The first one to debut was – "Humari Beti", which didn't make Nutan a star yet showed a feminist fervor at that time.

  • She was one of the bodacious female actresses who shared an equal foot with her male counterparts and is often known for her "path-breaking" roles in Indian Cinema. She epitomized "bold and beautiful" in the 70s era when people preferred sari-clad woman more than pants and skirts.
  • At the age of 18, she was sent to 'Switzerland' to pursue her studies. Nonetheless, her classmates had no idea that little Nutan was a star in Mumbai. Later, when she returned back, the filmmakers were enthralled of her charm and dazzling eyes.
  • Nutan won the 'Filmfare Best Female Actress' award for her role as a juvenile aberrant at the end of childhood and womanhood, 'Seema'. The actress never looked back since then and is indeed the most awarded actress in the female acting category of Filmfare. She was also awarded received 'Padma Shri' by the Government of India.
  • Nutan once slapped an actor, Sanjeev Kumar for making alleged statements about their relationship. She broke up with him as the episode infuriated her.
  • She later married to Lieutenant Commander Rajnish Bahl, to whom she bore two children. She decided not to come back to the films, however, she returned after her husband insisted her.
  • By the 1980s, She started turning towards bhajan singing and her son Mohnish career. As time fled, 'cancer' began to sprout and take its poll but she was lucky to see her son establishing his career. She passed away at the age of 54.
