AAP’s ticket distribution mechanism is full of corruption and Nepotism, a party member reveals through an open letter

NewsGram Desk

March 27, 2017: For past few months, Aam Aami Party is making news for all the wrong reasons. People who once were the ardent supporters of the AAP are coming out in public disdaining the party with a growing hub of dishonesty and corruption. The recent report by Income Tax department and Election Commission of India validate the allegations of corruption, debauchery, and fraud running over the party. The party which emerged out of the gargantuan public support with its promise of bringing an alternative in Indian political sphere, is now struggling hard to conceal the anti-social and unlawful practices running the party. The latest in its growing illicit-list is the reigning Nepotism and corruption in the distribution of tickets for forthcoming municipal election in Delhi.

NewsGram brings to you latest new stories in India.

The author of this piece, Neeru Bahl was a Women Wing President in her assembly and also among many of the fierce supporter and volunteers of the AAP who yielded the ground and helped in setting the foot of the party; They lay the foundation of the party among the public. With the passing of times, all the promises seem to be vanishing in the thin air, leaving the people and volunteers in fury and discontentment. Neeru wrote this piece on Quora asking the leadership of AAP about the plunging disparity within the internal management that has hollowed out the ethics of the party.

An open letter exploring the reason behind the pain of AAP women wing.

Dear Bhavna Gaur (Delhi State women wing President) and Mamta Kundu (Delhi state women wing Secretary),

I have been a foot soldier of Aam Aadmi Party since inception and have NEVER ever asked for a ticket in any elections or flaunted photo ops with leadership on social media. I was women wing president from my assembly since 2 years and relieved myself from the post three days back. I continue to be a member of AAP.

Today, I write to you, to remind you about AAP's Mahilla wing of Delhi and in particular about our ladies who have been there with AAP since inception. Many among them became members of a political party for the first time because 'a political revolution' had begun!

It was our 'Mahila Shakti' that convinced people to vote for AAP in Delhi, has been to Amethi, Varanasi during Lok Sabha 2014 elections and to Punjab and Goa too.

I remember clearly madam, that in our meetings of AAP mahila wing, whether at ward level or at Vidhan Sabha level, since last year, you used to say that, this time AAP has decided to reserve seats for ladies for the MCD elections. You used to further say that we all are your sisters and you will see to it that tickets on women reserved seats are only given to the real deserving women volunteers and not 'dummies'.

If you recall you used to say, dear sisters, the only condition is that you work on the ground, so that you can say, here are my sisters from women wing that have worked and deserve tickets. Even AAP's Delhi state convener Dillip Pandey has officially stated the same to media.

Now, what has happened dear madams, why the whole women wing is heartbroken?

Go to NewsGram and check out news related to political current issues.

Almost in the majority of the ladies reserved seats, either dummies have been given tickets or para-dropped candidates, that too in a well-planned manner.

Now, how is it well planned?

Madam, it is very simple to understand. They joined the party some time back and then some posts were created for them, and Voila! It could easily be said to media and public that see we are for women empowerment!!

I am baffled! When I can feel the hurt of my fellow sisters and I have given up my post as women wing president of my Vidhan Sabha in solidarity with them, despite the fact that I am NOT a ticket seeker and did not fill the nomination form, how can you not feel the same pain? Almost all of our fellow sisters have been reaching out to you all internally.

To name a few (The list is longer, though), Suman Kaushik, Abha Mittal, Shashi Gautum, Shubhlata Awasthi, Savita Mishra, Gurpreet, Preeti Tiwari, Neetu Bhatti, Poonam Joshi, Bhawna, Kulveer Kaur, Sapna Banswal, Renu Thakur, Pushpa Singh, Robina Khan, KumKum Singh, Ranjeeta Gurrani, Seema Bharadwaj…. what was wrong with them?

Why were they denied tickets when they have been working for AAP since years and each one can efficiently give output equivalent to two male workers?

When there is no explanation, there is one explanation: Ticket seeking is a sin. No, it is not.

Look for latest news from India in NewsGram.

Our leaders have also contested elections and Mahila wing state president is an elected MLA. If ticket seeking is such a sin then we shouldn't have made a political party and should have continued as a civil society movement. Likewise, leadership should have always stayed away from elections.

As I write, I know tickets in 17 wards have been changed, and some are under review.

This itself vindicates volunteers' stand that there has been unjust ticket distribution.

But a question will always hound: Why did the unjust ticket distribution take place at first place and what was the intention behind this?

Thanks,

Neeru Bahl
