According to TOI report, the video of the ad was received with sarcastic and scathing comments on social media, although some of the Hindu activists appreciated the effort. The ad contained clips from Trump's New Jersey speech and a photo of him lighting the lamp.

The Trump campaign for the Indian Americans is organized by Chicago businessman Shalabh Kumar. Kumar has been actively involved in the Trump campaign and he is known to be a Modi supporter.

Recently, at a fundraiser program of the RHC, Trump said, "I am a big fan of Hindu and I am a big fan of India. If I am elected President, the Indian and Hindu community would have a true friend at the White House."

NewsGram brings to you top news around the world today.

Trump's daughter-in-law, Lara, attended the Diwali event celebrated in Rajdhani temple. Originally, Trump's daughter Ivanka, was supposed to attend the event but at the last moment Lara showed up. She was asked to walk barefoot in the sanctum sanctorum. She said, Hinduism is a beautiful religion and also spoke about the immigration system of the country where illegal immigrants were favored. She also gushed about the significant contributions made by the Indian Americans in the US, mentioned TOI report.

The temple is located in Northern Virginia, which is home to several Indian-Americans and many of who work in Silicon Dominion. Experts believe that this group will lead to a tight contest in the upcoming US election. However, Hillary Clinton has built an 8 point lead in the previously known battleground state.

Since 1960, the republican has won eight successive elections in Virginia. The state went Democratic when Obama won the state in 2008 and retained it in 2012. The credit of the victory can be given to the liberal immigration stance of Democrats.

Trump's policy favors Indian immigrants who arrive through the legal route against the illegal immigrants from Latin and Central America.

The policy, though, attracts a section of Indian immigrants; the argument is not strong enough to make any difference.
