Territorial Army celebrates 67th Raising Day with an impressive Parade in New Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 9, 2016: The Territorial Army celebrated its 67th Raising Day on Sunday with an impressive parade here in the presence of army chief General Dalbir Singh.

General Singh reviewed the parade at the Army Parade Ground and complimented the Territorial Army (TA) fraternity for their yeoman service to the nation.

The army chief also wished all TA ranks and their families good luck for a glorious future.

Ten TA contingents under the command of Colonel Krishnandu Barker participated in the parade, in which tableaus of the Ecological Task Force, Railway Engineers and the oil sector units showcased their contribution in the fields of environmental conservation and maintenance of essential services.

The TA is 400,000-strong force, a part of the regular Indian Army. Its role is to relieve the army from static duties and assist the civil administration in situations where community life is affected or national security threatened.

The parade was witnessed by civil and military dignitaries, including military and defence attaches from friendly foreign countries. (IANS)
