5 Bollywood movies where train played the major role

JAB WE MET (2007)

This Indian romantic comedy-drama film directed and written by Imtiaz Ali narrates the story of a naïve Punjabi girl who bumps into a depressed businessman on an overnight train. The film produced by Dhillin Mehta stars Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor.

THE TRAIN (1970)

This filmi noir crime-fighting entertaining movie starred veteran actors Rajesh Khanna and Nanda. Khanna stars as Police Inspector Shyam Kumar who is out to solve the gritting mystery of murders which have all taken place on the Calcutta Express train.

Shyam's girlfriend Neeta (Nanda) with a mysterious background and hotel dancer Miss Lily (Helen) with the mission to seduce Shyam further makes the story gripping.

CHENNAI EXPRESS (2013)

This Rohit Shetty movie also centered around a train journey and the incidents that take place due to the encounter of Rahul(Shahrukh Khan) and Meena(Deepika Padukone) in the train named "Chennai Express".

THE BURNING TRAIN (1980)

The film with its multi-star cast of Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Vinod Khanna, Parveen Babi, Jeetendra, Neetu Singh, Vinod Mehra, and Danny Denzongpa had a grand opening.

The plot revolves around a train named Super Express which is slated to set the record for becoming the fastest train. Danny plants a bomb in the train and the story revolves around the journey of the train. DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE (1995)

This Indian romantic cult, famously known as DDLJ is directed by Aditya Chopra and produced by Yash Chopra. Its popularity knows no bounds since the day it was declared the highest grossing movie in the year of its release. Almost 20 years after its first release, it is still being shown at the Maratha Mandir theatre in Mumbai and is one of the most successful Bollywood movies till date.

The plot revolves around Raj and Simran, who fall in love during a vacation through Europe with their friends. Their brimming affair comes to an end when Raj tries to win over Simran's family so that the couple can marry but her hand had already been promised to another man by Simran's father.
