CBI raids, seals Kejriwal office alleges AAP

New Delhi: In a move that sent shockwaves across India, the Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday reportedly raided the office of Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Admi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal and sealed it.

However, reasons behind the raids by the agency remained unknown.

Political pundits opined that the CBI raid on Kejriwal's office was a part of the drives carried out by the central investigation agency targeting Delhi government's Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar Singh who was arrested over his alleged involvement in a bribery case.

Notably, a 1984 batch Indian Administrative Service officer Rajendra Kumar Singh was the Principal Secretary of the Department of Welfare of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes and Minorities in the Delhi government.

The Aam Admi Party was vociferous against the CBI move of conducting raids in their Chief Minister's office. Calling the incident as undemocratic, Sanjay Singh of AAP said, "The raids shows the hooliganism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi."

Lashing out at the CBI, Sanjay Singh alleged that the CBI was not only parroting the voice of the Prime Minister but also working for the BJP.

An irked Kejriwal, in his reaction, lambasted the Prime Minister calling him a 'coward' in a series of tweets.

BJP stalwart and Union Minister for Urban Development, Venkaiah Naidu, clearly stated that unlike the Congress-led UPA government, the BJP had no influence on the central agency. The CBI under NDA government was an independent entity, he added.

Arvind Kejriwal had made it a fashion to blame every issue on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Naidu alleged.

Though AAP cadres accused the CBI of not informing about the raid, political analysts said, the CBI had the jurisdiction to carry out raids and seal office if there was a court order.
