Attack on CRPF convoy leaves six injured

Srinagar: Indiscriminate firing by masked militants on a CRPF convoy on Srinagar-Jammu national highway in south Kashmir's Anantnag district left at least six jawans seriously injured on Monday.

The CRPF bus was part of a convoy that was on its way to Jammu from Srinagar. The militants unleashed the attack near Green Tunnel at Samthan in Bijbehara, 50 km from here, a police officer said.

The injured have been shifted to a hospital in Anantnag, the officer said, adding the area has been cordoned off and a manhunt has been launched to nab the attackers.

There have been a number of militant attacks in Kashmir recently. Just a few weeks ago a gun fight in Kupawara took the life of Colonel Santosh Mahadik. Another gunfight in the same district left one soldier dead last week.

Two alleged ISI agents were arrested last week from Kashmir other than three from Kolkata. India and Pakistan held an NSA level talks on Sunday in Bangkok and terror was discussed in the meet. But it seems that none of India or Pakistan is able to figure out answers to this problem.

Soldiers and civilians continue to suffer while leaders are meeting and talking about the issue. Kashmir has apparently become a bone of contention that India neither can spit now swallow.

In last one month, half a dozen of such attacks have taken place where Indian army personnel were either seriously injured or died.

The attacks on CRPF bus is yet another example when Indian soldiers were caught unaware making them an easy target. It proves that attackers had a plan, information and knowledge and executed it successfully.
