New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again created history today during his landmark addresses at Sher-i-Kashmir stadium by declaring a developmental package of Rs 80,000 crore for "changing the fortunes' of the economically crippled state of Jammu & Kashmir.

Reiterating that he felt the pains of the people of the state, Modi said, "Jammu and Kashmir always beckons me."

Despite the separatists leaders claiming that Modi had once again tried to win Kashmir by splashing cash, most people lauded the move as the state badly needed financial aid to develop infrastructure that was ravaged by flood.

Rs 34000 crore would be utilised for improving connectivity in the state. Modi, in Kashmir, said, "roads will be constructed so that transportation takes less time."

Calling out to the youth, Modi assured that premier institutes like IIT would come up in Jammu & Kashmir for grooming them and transforming them into efficient and employable human resource.

Modi further said that the government was actively considering to develop ICT in the state for the welfare of the people. "Besides highways, we also need i-ways (optical fibre network for information and communications infrastructure). It would also be set up in the state," said Modi.

Modi further stated that the package was just the beginning of a change, the treasury and heart of Delhi was available for the Kashmiris. "I will do here (Kashmir) what I did to Gujrat after the earthquake," he said.

Focussed on the areas of employment generation through skill development and education, road and information infrastructure, health and rehabilitation, Modi tried to strike a conversation with the state as it has traditionally been neglected by the centre.

PM Modi talked about inclusion and why the whole nation must develop. He stressed on the fact that "every citizen of India's support" as well as "every part's progress is required."

Promising of ushering in a new and stronger Kashmir, Modi pledged to make the state the top tourist destination with special focus on adventure and eco-tourism other than developing the beautiful landscapes that make it the heaven of the world. The state doesn't get as many tourists as it should because of poor infrastructure as well as militancy issues.

Through his dynamic speech, Modi once again proved his brilliance to turn things in his favour. The opposition, like Omar Abdullah, wasn't happy with the package as he believed, "PM Modi has made the same mistake of weighing the Kashmir issue in rupees and paise."
