Shah Rukh Khan honoured at the Asian Awards for outstanding contribution to Indian cinema

The Badshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan has been honoured with the prestigious award of outstanding contribution to Indian cinema at the fifth annual 'The Asian Awards' held at London's Grosvenir House Hotel.

The presence of global celebrities, including One Direction's former band member Zayn Malik, Casey Batchelor, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Anna Williamson, increased the fashion and style quotient of the Asian Awards, hosted by fashion icon, Gok Wan.

Dressed in formal black tuxedo coupled with a crisp white shirt and black bow tie, SRK said in a statement, "I say this very often that my stardom belongs to most South East Asians who reside abroad and have made the Indian cinema and me known around the world. I congratulate all the winners at the Asian Awards as well. There is so much talent and so many achievers around Asia, whether it be Dr. Amar Bose, the Hinduja Brothers or Zayn Malik. I am glad to have been a part of such a wonderful celebration of hard work by people in different fields with similar passion."

The Asian Award was founded by Paul Sagoo who envisioned to celebrate the achievements of individuals born in or with direct origin from Pan-Asia.

On the other hand, Sri Lankan batsman Kumar Sangakkara won the award for Outstanding Contribution to Sports. Comedian, actor and broadcaster, Sanjeev Bhaskar, fetched the award for Outstanding Achievement in Television. Zayn Malik was also awarded for Outstanding Contribution to Music.
