What to expect from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 3-nation tour

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on the trip to France, Germany and Canada today. Modi is undertaking the trip to the industrialized democracies to pursue India's economic issues.

'They are very relevant to a lot of our national development programs,' S.Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary said.

The 8-day long trip will include a boat ride with French President Francois Hollande, talks with French nuclear-energy company Areva, inauguration of a business fair with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and addressing people of Indian origin in an ice hockey arena in Toronto.

Here is the itinerary which the Prime Minister will follow –

France, 9th to 12th April

Main agendas –

Reaching an agreement with French nuclear-energy company Areva to build reactors in India.

Seal a deal with Dassault Aviation for the sale of Rafale fighter jets.

Germany, 12th to 14th April

Main agendas –

Inauguration of a business fair with German Chancellor Angela Merkel where over 400 companies will participate.

Unveiling a statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Hannover.

Visit Hannover's railway station to seek ideas to improve Indian Railways.

Canada, 14th to 16th April

Main agendas –

1st bilateral visit by Indian PM in 42 years.

Hold talks with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Address the people of Indian Diaspora at Toronto's Ricoh Coliseum.
